In 1953, Laurence Lilley, Sr.,
along with several partners,
purchased the local
International Harvester
dealership in Williamston, N. C.
Martin Tractor and Truck Co.,
our business name in those days,
catered to local farmers and
truck operators with the full IH
product line. Like most
International dealers, Martin
Tractor sustained itself by
serving the diverse needs of a
largely rural small town. Since
that time our company has
realized significant growth and
changed our name to Lilley
International, Inc., but stayed
with the quality and durability
of the International brand. To
broaden our primary product
offerings and meet the needs of
a changing customer base, we
added the #1 import truck brand,
Isuzu, in the early 90’s.
Today, three members of the
Lilley family work in the
dealership, representing 90
years of experience in the truck
and equipment business. Laurence
Lilley, Sr., is still active as
Chairman, while Laurence Lilley,
Jr., and Jim Lilley fill the
roles of President and Vice
President. We serve our eastern
NC truck customers from
locations in Williamston, Rocky
Mount, and Gates giving those
customers a strong presence to
meet their parts and service
needs. We access our Case IH
farm customers from our
Williamston location and a store
in Scotland Neck.
Our family is proud of the
fifty-three years that we have
dedicated to our customers and
employees. We are also very
proud and appreciative of those
employees who have helped us
thrive during that period.
Eastern North Carolina must face
many challenges in the coming
years in order to remain a
viable, economically healthy
region. The employees and
ownership at Lilley
International are committed to
this area and look forward to
doing their part to help our
area meet those challenges. |
